Privacy Policy

Sussex Cars (“we”, “us”) is the data controller for the personal data described on this page. This policy explains what we collect, why, how long we keep it, and the rights you have over it under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. It covers this website only - it does not cover the separate booking system we link out to, or our mobile app, each of which has its own privacy notice.

What we collect, and why

Driver applications

If you apply to become a driver through the “Become a Driver” form, we collect your name, email address, phone number and any message you choose to add. We use this to consider your application and contact you about it - our legal basis is taking steps at your request before entering a contract, and our legitimate interest in recruiting drivers. We keep applications for as long as reasonably needed to manage recruitment, and delete them once that purpose has passed.

Complaints

If you submit a complaint through our complaints page, we collect your name, email address, and any phone number, journey details or vehicle/driver information you provide, so we can investigate and respond. Our legal basis is our legitimate interest in resolving complaints and meeting our obligations as a licensed operator. We keep complaint records for as long as needed to resolve the matter and to demonstrate compliance with our licence conditions.

Cookie consent records

When you make a choice in our cookie banner, we log a randomly generated id (also stored in a cookie on your device), your choice, a truncated browser identifier and the time - so we can demonstrate, if asked, that consent was properly obtained. Analytics

With your consent, we use Google Analytics (and, where enabled, Yandex Metrica) to understand how the site is used, so we can improve it. These only run after you allow analytics cookies - see the Cookie Policy for the specific cookies set and their providers.

Contacting us directly

If you call or email us to book a journey or ask a question, we process whatever details you give us (e.g. name, phone number, pickup/drop-off details) to deliver that service, under the contract we’re entering with you. Bookings made through our online booking system or app are handled under that system’s own privacy notice, shown at the point of booking.

Who we share data with

• Resend - delivers our transactional emails (e.g. application and complaint notifications).
• Upstash - hosts the database that stores the records described above.
• Vercel - hosts this website.
• Google Analytics (and Yandex Metrica, where enabled) - only after you consent to analytics cookies.

We do not sell personal data, and we do not use it for advertising or marketing. We only share data with these providers to the extent needed to run the site and respond to you, under data processing agreements where applicable.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:

• Ask what personal data we hold about you, and get a copy of it (access)
• Ask us to correct inaccurate data (rectification)
• Ask us to delete data we no longer need (erasure)
• Ask us to restrict or object to certain processing
• Ask for data you provided to be given to you in a portable format
• Withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on consent (e.g. analytics cookies)

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at info@726726.co.uk. You also have the right to complain to the UK’s data protection regulator, the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), though we’d appreciate the chance to resolve things directly first.

Children

This website is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children through the forms on this site.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time, for example if we start using a new service or a new form on the site. We’ll update the date below when we do.
