Terms & Conditions
These terms apply whenever you use this website or book a journey with Sussex Cars, a private hire operator licensed by Eastbourne Borough Council. By using the site or making a booking, you accept the terms below.
1. Using this website
We aim to keep the content on this site (fares, routes, availability) accurate and up to date, but occasionally information may change or contain errors. Where a fare shown online differs from the fare confirmed at the time of booking, the confirmed fare applies. All text, images and branding on this site belong to Sussex Cars or our licensors and may not be reused without permission.
2. Making a booking
Bookings can be made by phone, through our app, or through our online booking system (a third-party service we link to from this site, which has its own terms shown at the point of booking). A booking is confirmed once we have acknowledged it - a fare estimate on this website is not itself a confirmed booking.
3. Fares
Long-distance and airport transfer fares are quoted upfront where shown on the site. Local journeys may be metered. Fares can be affected by factors outside our control at the time of travel (e.g. road closures, waiting time you request, extra stops) and we’ll always let you know before this affects your fare where practical.
4. Cancellations & no-shows
You can cancel or amend a booking by calling us on 01323 726726 as early as possible. Cancelling with little or no notice, or not being at the pickup point when the driver arrives, may result in a charge - we’ll always explain this at the time if it applies to your booking.
5. Luggage, children & accessibility
Let us know at the time of booking if you need a child seat, extra boot space, or have any mobility needs, so we can arrange the most suitable vehicle and driver - see our FAQs for more on this. We ask that luggage is reasonable for the vehicle booked; let us know in advance if you have unusually large or unusual items.
6. Conduct
We expect passengers to treat drivers and vehicles with respect. We reserve the right to refuse or end a journey where a passenger’s behaviour puts the driver, vehicle or other road users at risk.
7. Liability
We carry out our services with reasonable care and skill. We are not liable for delays or losses caused by circumstances outside our reasonable control, such as traffic, weather or road closures. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence.
8. External links
This site links to third-party services we don’t control, including our online booking system, app store listings and Google Maps. We aren’t responsible for the content or availability of those external services.
9. Complaints
If something goes wrong, please see our complaints procedure for how to raise it with us.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and any dispute will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The current version always applies to new bookings; we’ll update the date below when changes are made.
